Biography:

South African pianist Roelof Temmingh completed his undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music, London, studying piano with Nigel Clayton and Dina Parakhina, and was awarded the Tagore Gold Medal for the “most generally deserving student” in any course. He is currently pursuing his Masters’ degree at the RCM with pianist Dina Parakhina, and has received masterclasses from pianists including Seymour Lipkin, Marios Papadopoulos, and Howard Shelley. He also studied in Vienna with Paul Gulda, as a result of winning the SACS Music Competition in South Africa. Actively engaging in chamber music, he was chosen as part of a piano quartet to play at the RCM’s annual President’s Visit in 2018, as well as the Royal Albert Hall’s Classical Coffee Morning Series. Performances include solo and chamber music recitals in South Africa, UK, US, France, Spain, Sweden, and Austria, as well as concerto performances in South Africa and the UK. In 2018 he joined the South African MIAGI orchestra for their European Tour, which took them to venues such as the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the like. Roelof is an Emma Rose Scholar at the RCM.
