The first half is centred on Beethoven’s piano and cello sonata in A major, composed in the same year he completed his fifth and sixth symphonies. It is a serene and joyful work which for the first time integrates the contributions of both instruments into a symmetrical and seamless whole, and is one of Beethoven’s most popular chamber works. John Sunderland is returning to the platform for the first time since his birthday concert in April 2015!

In the second half Findlay will introduce and play some well known shorter pieces arranged for cello and piano, accompanied by Michael Papadopoulous, St Paul’s Assistant Director of Music.

This is a ticket- free event, but is designed as a fundraiser to support the purchase of a new cello for Findlay Spence.

Donations can be made online via this link or on the night.
